In celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month, we are partnering with Hopewell Theater to present “That Old Black Magic,” featuring baritone showman, Keith Spencer. The performance is an entertaining, bluesy and sentimental tribute through some of the most-recognizable standards of the American Songbook brought to life by African American greats, Nat “King” Cole, Sammy Davis, Jr., Billy Eckstine, and Johnny Hartman. Familiar songs such as “Route 66”, “Love Me or Leave Me”, “Lush Life”, “It’s Only a Paper Moon”, and “Birth of the Blues”, will be performed among many other recognizable standards. For this one-night-only special performance, Keith is backed by a sizzling five-piece jazz ensemble featuring some of the most-talented instrumentalists in the region.
